On June 6, 2023, the USAID Partnership for Higher Education Reform project hosted a webinar on Internal Quality Assurance in Higher Education with the attendance of over 90 participants from higher education institutions across the country.
Presenting at the webinar, Professor Victor Borden from Indiana University and Ms Chita Pijano from CHEA International Quality Group (CIQG) Advisory Council introduced an overview of IQA and practices in the US, ASEAN, and Vietnam.
The speakers then presented the IQA “checklist” comprising policies, processes, organization, staffing, technology and how these actors can play a key role in establishing an effective IQA system. This has raised interests and questions among the participants.
To illustrate the IQA status of Vietnam, representatives from the Institute for Education Quality Assurance (Vietnam National University-Hanoi) and University of Science and Education (the University of Danang) shared information on how the IQA has helped them ensure teaching and learning, and other activities to be effective and continuously improving.
Our team of experts will be closely working with the Vietnamese universities to help strengthen the IQA systems, which is one of the efforts of the project to enhance the universities’ governance capacity.
