VIAN-Health Science Webinar on “Metastasis in breast cancer & the plan to build a cancer data bank in Vietnam”

On December 23, 2022, Vietnam-International Academic Network (VIAN) – Health Science organized its regular webinar with the topic on: “Metastasis in breast cancer & the plan to build a cancer data bank in Vietnam” presented by Dr. Nguyen Chi Long.

Dr. Nguyen Chi Long graduated as a valedictorian from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. He earned a Ph.D. in Medicine from Tohoku Medical University, Japan, with his research on epigenetics and cancer under the guidance of Professor Kazuhiko Igarashi, who discovered the metastasis-promoting protein in BACH1 cancer. Currently Dr. Nguyen Chi Long is pursuing a postdoctoral degree at the Ben May Cancer Research Center, at the University of Chicago. He is doing research on breast cancer, especially triple-negative breast cancer, and the mechanism of metastasis, hypoxia, and drug resistance of cancer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Nguyen Chi Long also joined many multinational research groups to conduct research on the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 together with Professor Susan Weiss from the University of Pennsylvania. He and other young Vietnamese people are initiating a cancer research project in Vietnam Oregene to build a cancer data bank for Vietnam.

During the presentation, Dr. Nguyen Chi Long shared about the research projects he was pursuing in the US and other research projects in Vietnam. He wished to cooperate with more Vietnamese professors, doctors, researchers, and young people in the future.
