On Thursday, 20 April 2023, VIAN-Education’s webinar was held with the topic “Does Full-Day Kindergarten Combined with Small Class Size Boost Test Scores?” given by David Frisvold, Ph.D, Professor of Economics, University of Iowa.

In Prof. Divid Frisvold’s presentation, he examines the impact on academic achievement of a unique program for kindergarten students that directly targets children at the greatest risk of underperforming academically. The program combines full-day kindergarten with small class sizes and emphasizes literacy instruction. His research results suggest that being offered admission to the OEK (Optional Enhanced Kindergarten) program increased reading achievement, but this effect did not persist through the end of the first grade.
