On May 30, 2023, Dr. Rebecca Torstrick from Indiana University Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning (CITL) met with the faculty who lead the VNU-Hanoi Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE). This center supports university professors in the development of effective pedagogical practices that positively impact teaching and learning across the university.

Dr. Torstrick and the CTE leadership in Hanoi discussed achievements, challenges and immediate needs. After hearing from the CTE at Vietnam National University-Hanoi, Dr. Torstrick shared a range of best practices from IU experiences, giving practical advice on ways to address concerns about instructional capacity at universities across Vietnam. In the coming year it is anticipated that The project will support the CTE at Vietnam National University-Hanoi and across the three partner universities more generally, to help them raise awareness and build the profession of instructional design so that all universities in Vietnam can modernize and innovate their pedagogical practices to ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning.  Such support will set up the CTE’s in Vietnam for greater relevance, effectiveness, longevity and success.
