The USAID Partnership for Higher Education Reform project conducted a series of technical consultations for more than 160 leaders and staff responsible for human resources management reforms at the University of Danang (UD) and its member institutions from April 2 to 5, 2024. The focus of the workshops was on revisions to key performance indicators (KPIs) to be used as the basis for future annual faculty and staff evaluations.
The meetings included a one-day training for UD, as well as individualized technical support sessions for six UD member universities. The project human resources expert, Professor Vu Van Yem, shared innovations in how KPIs are evolving in their application to annual performance reviews of faculty and staff. Dr. Vu and his team worked with each institution to propose individualized approaches to revising KPIs for faculty and staff evaluation systems.
Delegates engaged in open discussions related to the application of KPIs for staff evaluation and salary adjustment practices related to performance. The technical support sessions created opportunities for UD human resources professionals to consult with experts as they take steps toward adopting new approaches to faculty and staff annual performance evaluation.
With the project support, it is expected that human resource management will be strengthened not only at UD, but also at Vietnam National University-Hanoi and Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.
