In June 2023, the USAID Partnership for Higher Education Reform project organized a series of technical assistance activities on internal quality assurance (IQA) with the host of the University of Danang (UD).
The opening activity was a workshop focusing Improving IQA Strategy and Governance with a target audience of 73 leaders of UD and its member universities; and heads of Accreditation and Educational Quality Assurance (EQA) departments from UD and Vietnam National University-Hanoi.
During the session, Dr. Victor Borden introduced the institutional effectiveness model of Indiana University which got high interest from participants, the session then was followed by interactive discussions on program review and assessment, building policy and culture for continuous improvement.
In the coaching sessions following the workshop, 20 professionals from Educational QA departments from the UD, University of Science and Education and Vietnam National University-Hanoi got to discuss in detail the approach and tools used in quality assurance.
Participants shared the current QA framework, data collection tools as well as the current challenges that the teams encountered and got feedback and recommendations from IU experts and other IQA fellows. After the onsite interventions, virtual and monitoring support will be continued which will help the EQA departments redesign IQA process or steps that will be put into practice in the time to come.
