SUMMARY:Policy Dialogue for Online Education
DESCRIPTION:USAID Partnership for Higher Education Reform project is organizing a policy dialogue on the topic of Online Education to bring together the partner universities and international experts to review issues and share experiences. We would like to invite you to participate in the dialogue. Logistics for the meeting are as follows:\nDate: 26 September 2023\nTime: 08.00-11.00 ICT\nMeeting mode: Online by Zoom\nInterested scholars can join the event at this link.\nObjectives – to support the three universities to:\n\nLearn from international experience and practice to help identify a roadmap to developing online education programs at each university;\nClarify the range of internal policies at each university related to the expansion of online higher education in light of successful experiences in developing online programs at institutions worldwide;\nConsider the elements of an enabling environment to support high-quality online higher education in Vietnam.\n\nParticipants: leaders, managers and faculty members from 3U, the USAID Partnership for Higher Education Reform project team, international experts, and USAID.\nThe contact person for this event is Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong: huong.n@sangkienvietnam.org; Mobile: 091-508-6604.\nWe are looking forward to your confirmation.\nSpeakers: \n\nHamish Coates is the Dean of Education at Holmes Education Group. He was a Tenured Professor at Tsinghua University’s Institute of Education and Director of the Higher Education Research Division, and Deputy Director of Tsinghua’s Global Research Centre for the Assessment of College and Student Development.\nChris Foley, Associate Vice President, Office of the Vice President for Regional Campuses, Indiana University. As AVP and director, Chris is the chief operating officer for the Office of Online Education, providing entrepreneurial leadership of strategic operations and business processes for the office.\nStephanie Gray, Interim Director, Office of Collaborative Academic Programs, Indiana University. Stephanie Gray has joined the Office of Collaborative Academic Programs as associate director. In this role, Gray works with faculty, administrators, and staff across all IU campuses to support the development, implementation, and assessment of collaborative online degree programs.\nDr Nghiem Xuan Huy, Director, VNU Institute for Education Quality Assurance, VNU. Dr Nghiem Xuan Huy is also in charge of VNU Center Teaching Excellence. His professional interests and expertise are higher education development, building and developing learners’ capability, information literacy, quality assurance and policy, university autonomy, university governance, university ranking, Education technology, Curriculum development and course design.\nAssoc.Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet has been working at the University of Danang (UD) for 26 years. He currently serves as the Director of Educational Quality Assurance Department and Secretary of the University of Danang’s Council. He received a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at Vinnytsia National Technical University, Ukraine in 1997. He is the author and coauthor of three books, two patents and more than 100 papers in the field of electric power system, renewable energy and higher education.\nDr Duong Ton Thai Duong, Acting Vice Director of Academic Affair, VietNam National University – Ho Chi Minh City. With 19 years working experience and his expertise in education management, he has been in charge of admission, curriculum development, academic regulation and education projects for undergraduate and postgraduate studies such as Education 4.0 based on modern CDIO project; National foreign language project; Enhancing digital transformation capabilities in education in VNUHCM; VNU-HCM Talent training project; Textbook development in VNUHCM project.\nDr.Huynh The Du Dr Du has joined the USAID Partnership for Higher Education Reform project team since January 2022 as a program management specialist after being a visiting scholar at Indiana University for nearly three years. He is also a co-instructor at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. He was a senior lecturer at Fulbright University Vietnam. He was the academic director of the Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management from 2014-2018.\n\n\n\n
